Pricing on a used 20-ton crawler excavator (CAT 320, Komatsu PC200, Sany SY215, Hitachi ZX200, Doosan DX225, Hyundai R225) depends primarily on year, working hours, brand, and supply route. CAT and Komatsu typically carry a 20–30% brand premium over Doosan / Hyundai at comparable spec. Send us your target spec and we will reply with a formal FOB / CIF quote within 24 hours.
For brand-name machines (CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Kobelco), yes — Japanese auction yards typically have better maintenance records and the units have spent their working life in less abrasive conditions. The 5–15% price premium is usually recovered in lower repair costs over the first 12 months. For domestic Chinese brands (Sany, Shantui, SDLG), this route doesn't matter much because the supply chain is the same.
Three checks: (1) the hour meter against ECU readout (modern excavators store run-hours in the engine control unit, which is much harder to roll back); (2) wear patterns on the cabin floor, pedals, and seat (a 1,200-hour machine shouldn't have pedal-paint worn off); (3) maintenance sticker history under the side cover. We document all three on video before sealing.
For 50-km road grading and trenching the 20–25-ton class is the sweet spot — CAT 320D2L, Komatsu PC220-8, or Sany SY215C. They balance fuel economy, bucket capacity (0.9–1.1 m³), and parts availability. For larger mining or quarry work step up to CAT 336 / Sany SY365.
